Monty
Roberts Introductory Certificate of Horsemanship
The
Introductory Course is an internationally recognised qualification
that gives you an overall understanding
of Monty’s
concepts and a well-rounded knowledge in general horsemastership. This
includes horse performance, feeding and nutrition, and stable management,
with
a strong emphasis on horse psychology. Students from various equine
backgrounds
are welcome to take part, and the Join-Up® & Follow-Up™ Class
comprises part one of this course.
As
the foundation of Monty's work, and a prerequisite for all advanced
Monty Roberts courses, you will be learning the method of Join-Up® as
it relates to various environments. You will have the opportunity
to build your skills in Dually™ halter work, long lining, herding
exercises and loading.

One: Join-Up® & Follow-Up™ Class
The
syllabus of the Introductory Course commences when you begin your
initial Join-Up & Follow-Up Class.
Part
Two: Seven Day Practical
The
Seven Day Practical includes Personal Development and Horse Psychology,
building on
your knowledge of the language Equus and the method of
Join-Up in the pasture, round-pen and stable. You will also be introduced
to the Dually Halter, further long lining, and observational exercises.

Four: Seven Day Evaluation
You will then return
to the Waikato for a further seven days where you will be able
